More than 25 years ago, whilst watching a BBC drama starring Jos Ackland as a man who walks from Land's End to John O'Groats I decided that one day I would do the same. But unlike the hero of the drama I wanted to avoid roads.
When Annemiek and I met whilst walking in the Turkish Taurus mountains I apparently told of my plan. Now, twenty five and a half years later, I am about to embark on my adventure. In 10 day's time, on the 8th of April, I will leave the Land's End hotel and start walking....
